Heating commercial or residential dwellings using the air around you may sound too good to be true – but it is achievable with an air source heat pump. Designed to absorb heat from the air around your building, the air source heat pump is the ideal solution for anyone interested in reducing their energy bills and carbon footprint. Essentially working like a fridge in reverse, an air source heat pump extracts heat from the air outside and transfers it inside. Working all year round even in the depths of winter – with temperatures as low as -20°C – the air source heat pump can be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems, warm air convectors and the hot water in your building. It is relatively easy to install and can be retro fitted or installed in a new build. Once installed, the air source heat pump simply replaces or connects into the existing boiler and will save up to 60% when compared with the price of oil and gas. It runs on electricity but has a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of 4, so for every one KW of electricity used to power the system, it will produce 4 KW of heat. In addition, because the heat it extracts from the air is being constantly renewed by the sun, the air source heat pump provides a greener way to heat. And when you factor in the availability of a substantial Government grant, no variable fuel costs, and the proposed Renewal Heat Incentives, the air source heat pump will generally provide a payback period of 3-4 years, and generate a tax-free income for 20 years. Furthermore, taking into account the projection that the system will last in the region of 20 years, fully maintaining its efficiency, the air source heat pump becomes an attractive alternative to traditional oil and gas systems. BlueBuild Energy recommend calling into their showroom to see their Split System Eko Warrior Air Source Heat Pump on display. A visit to see one installed and operating can be easily arranged. Installers and distributors welcome.
