The UK and Ireland’s largest producer and supplier of wood pellets, Balcas are celebrating the ENPlus certification of their brites fuel, a new European standard for premium quality wood pellets.
brites are manufactured usingrenewable energy in dedicatedcombined heat and power plantsbased in Enniskillen, NorthernIreland and Invergordon,Scotland. Each year 150,000tonnes of brites are produced anddistributed across UK and Ireland,and this achievement furtherdemonstrates the company’scommitment to the developmentof the wood fuel industry and totheir customers.
ENplus certification is the first ofits kind and together the Austriancertification body and EuropeanPellet Council aim to ensure thesupply of standardised, high-quality wood pellets for end users.
The complete supply chain isevaluated; meaning certification isonly awarded to manufacturersafter the wood pellets, thelabelling, logistics, storage anddelivery to end user is assessedto ensure that the customerreceives the highest quality woodpellets.
As wood pellets become an evermore important energy carrier, aclearly defined uniform qualitylevel becomes indispensable.
