Patol Appointment Brings Further ASD Experience

Following the announcement that Patol has become the UK distributor for the Securiton aspirating smoke detection (ASD) 535 range, the Reading-based specialist in industrial fire safety equipment and systems has backed its commitment to expanding its role in the market with a new appointment.

Colin Shepherd joined Patol on 3 August 2015, bringing with him over 35 years of experience in the fire industry. Much of that time has been spent in roles for major names in ASD, most recently Fire Protection Group where he spent 14 years in sales and operational positions. Colin takes on the role of UK Sales, Northern Region for Patol. He said: “I was looking for a new challenge and when I heard that Patol was taking on responsibility in the UK for Securiton’s ASD offering I saw the exciting opportunities that this presented. Aspirating smoke detection has come a long way from when it was first developed as a technology for providing early stage fire detection for telecommunications sites. That ability to provide early warning of fire, coupled with its capacity to overcome the challenges of environments which are difficult to protect with conventional point detectors, means that it is now used in a wide range of applications, from high-rack warehouses and museums to airports and clean rooms.”
