Is Your Business Waste Smart?

International Synergies Ltd is a registered centre for the Chartered Institutions of Wastes Management (CIWM) WASTE SMART courses. These courses are aimed at introducing and ensuring the competent and cost efficient handling of waste within businesses. The Foundation course is particularly relevant to any employee that handles business waste. It aims to ensure that delegates understand that waste is a valuable resource that requires sustainable handling and is managed in compliance with legislation. The Advanced course covers all the elements of the Foundation course but also looks at the practicalities of auditing, setting targets, monitoring waste and managing change within a business setting. Both courses conclude with an assessment and candidates that achieve 75% or higher are awarded a Waste Smart Certificate.

We offer open courses as well as onsite training and will work with businesses to ensure that their particular needs are met through the delivery of the courses.

Connecting Industry, Creating Opportunities We deliver a free industrial symbiosis service to help businesses collaborate to find cost saving solutions for unwanted resources such as topsoil and clay, rubble, timber, plastics and even transport, waste heat and expertise.

To achieve this we:

• visit sites providing advice and support to businesses as they implement their waste management plans;

• make introductions to other companies that may be able to utilise wasted resources in their own processes;

• hold interactive networking events where one company’s waste becomes another company’s treasure

This is a free service to businesses across all industry sectors and is supported by Invest NI and part financed by European Regional Development Fund under the European Sustainable Competitiveness programme in Northern Ireland.
